Time to escape the ordinary…
Driving from Singapore to Penang normally takes nine hours. However, Lady Luck decided to go on holiday during our first day of driving. We took off for Malaysia at 7am from Singapore, and due to a massive jam, we set “wheels” on Penang at 9.30pm. Yes! A solid 14 and a half on the road! Nevertheless, an adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered, and so, after freshening up, we answered the call for some top-notch street food at the famous Gurney Drive Hawker Centre.
With barely three hours of slumber, the next lap of the road trip was on! While helping ourselves with the mandatory dose of Penang Laksa and Cendol. we did not miss out on causing a scene. Parking four MINI Coopers? Take the entire street in front of the cendol shop and line up your MINIs! Stay put and keep the Cendol hotshot busy snapping.
Road trips’ essentials: a smooth ride, great company and a well-balanced diet of caffeine, salt and sugar! Our last pit stop was Ipoh, the cute Malaysian town with legendary coffee.
As we got home eager for bed, we can’t help but wonder, when is our next ride?
