It has been more than two decades now since I last went to a circus show (and mind you, I’m not that old yet, haha!). Having said that, Cirque du Soleil is a name which definitely rings a bell. I saw their Royal Albert Hall performance advertisements while studying in London, but I’ve only got to see them now in Singapore.

I was just blown away at how circus performance has evolved. The performance was utterly enjoyable, not a moment, or should I say, not a nanosecond passed by without excitement. The full two-hour performance was brimming with new surprises, and yet it wasn’t over the board, an amazing achievement in balancing the plethora of entertainment elements without overwhelming the audience.

The attention to detail by the production team was impeccable to say the least. Notwithstanding the pyrotechnical acrobatics which was expected of Cirque du Soleil, the infusion of sophisticated live music and the right dose of sparkling costumes presented a close-to-perfect performance.

Nevertheless, I was most impressed by the interaction offered by the clowns to the audience. You know what they say about creating personal customer experiences, well, what better way to create that by pulling members of the audience on-stage to fool around? Ingenious.

Cirque du Soleil is not an experience to be missed, especially to those skeptical about circus shows, open your minds and you will be earnestly rewarded.
